This is something new here at kofc9923 - the "GK’s notes." It’s a chance for me to keep in touch with all of you and bring the latest news and updates from the District Deputy and State and Supreme Councils.

Last July at the Installation of Officers I spoke of not settling for low aspirations and I was caught at our January meeting doing just that.  Fr John said we should shoot for 50 new members from our upcoming blitz and I thought that was a little too ambitious and for that I apologize.  As many of you were unable to attend the installation let me renew my pledge of aiming high.

Here’s what I said then and what I still believe today:

"As Knights of Columbus we are not content with letting others do the work of furthering the kingdom of God here on earth.  Our order has always remained true to its founding principles as set forth by our founder Fr Michael J McGivney - Charity, Unity, Fraternity AND Patriotism.

That is why we are Knights of Columbus.

That is why we now must raise the bar that has been set low by the unwilling. We must set our goals high because great achievements are never born out of low expectations.  We can be men of dreams or men of achievement. The difference is that men of dreams don’t believe that it can be done and men of achievement don’t believe those that say it can’t be done. I ask you brother Knights to believe me when I say it CAN be done. We can set our goals higher and we can reach them. Armed with the Rosary of Our Lady and carrying before us the Cross of our Lord and Savior we can do great things.

To you Fr John, I offer the services and resources of Council 9923. What ever you need we will be there for you and St Catherine’s. To you my brother Knights, I promise to do my best and to earn the trust you have placed in me. And to you my fellow officers I will rely on your leadership abilities to make this year successful. To our sister Columbiettes, I look forward to working side by side to aid this parish community.

Mary Queen of the Knights, Pray that we may serve.

VIVAT JESUS!!!!!"
