Knights of Columbus Council 9923 of St. Catherine’s of Sienna started a Cycling Team on January 11th, 2010. The purpose of the team is three fold; brotherhood, health, and charity. All levels of riders and all genders are welcome to join the team. Our first charity event is coming up September 11th and 12th in Calloway Gardens, Ga. This event is sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Cox Communications, Coca-Cola, and many more large companies. Team jerseys will be given out “free” to all team riders for this event. I am sure you know of someone who has Multiple Sclerosis, I know of six parishioners and two Knights that are afflicted with this disease. This nationwide charity event raises millions of dollars each year and I am soliciting you in hopes that you will join our team. Every man, women, and child is welcome ages 12 and up. If you do not want to ride perhaps you know of someone who does. Imagine 50 -100 riders over two days viewing our logo and advertising St. Catherine’s of Sienna with 10,000+ on-lookers and 2,500 riders. What a beautiful statement for our church and the commitment our parish has to the community. Please visit our web site to join the team or donate to this worthy cause. Send everyone you know that may be interested in riding to the web site below: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/Knights Anyone interested who wants to know about cycling and bikes, the Knights scheduled a local bike shop (Outspoken) to exhibit three types of bikes, safety tips, training ideas, and much more. You don’t need to be a team member to attend. Team members are offered discounts for bikes, equipment and accessories. Think of it as an investment in all our future efforts to ride for charity at many cycling events. |
